Duchess

The Duchess brand name was controlled by Werner Industries of Cincinnati, Ohio (not to be confused with The Werner Piano Company of Chicago).  In addition to the “Duchess” brand name, Werner Industries also controlled the Krell Piano Company, Royal Piano Company, and Auto-Player Company brand names.

In the 1920s, Werner Industries became affiliated with the famous Starr Piano Company.  Duchess pianos built prior the 1920s were built at the Krell Piano Company factory while Duchess pianos built during and after the 1920s were built at the Starr Piano Company factory.  Duchess pianos we have seen come through our restoration shop appear to be very well-made, durable instruments.
