Piano acquired!!! This was a seven month restoration beautifully done by the good Tennessee folks at Antique Piano Shop. If you're into classic pianos, their website is incredible (antiquepianoshop.com). This one is a Spanish style piece made in 1932 by the Marshall & Wendell Piano Company and fits the style of the house quite nicely. And don't worry! The keys are fake ivory. I love this piano so much. Now I just need to learn how to not play like crap.

  • YEAR: 1932
  • LENGTH: 5 feet, 2 inches
  • FINISH: English Brown Mahogany

The early 20th Century saw a revival in classic historical furniture styles and finishes. This is a stunning custom made Spanish Renaissance style baby grand piano that would have been specially designed for a period style home.  Originally done in an English brown mahogany finish, this instrument features elaborately carved legs adorned with ornate ironwork painted in dull red, green and gold accents.  The overall affect achieves a true “Old World” Renaissance look and feel.

This unusual baby grand piano was built by the famous Marshall & Wendell Piano Company in 1932, the height of the Great Depression.  In 1932, the purchase of a baby grand piano would have been a great financial sacrifice for the average American family; only a wealthy few could easily afford the luxury of a specially designed piano like this!
