DESCRIPTION

Like other makers, Mehlin built a limited number of Craftsman style pianos during the early 20th Century. This particular piano was known as the "Gothic Mission Design", as featured in The International Studio magazine, October, 1911 (see the our online Museum under "Mehlin" for a copy of original advertisement as it appeared in The International Studio magazine)
This piano once belonged in a California commune, and it is interesting to note the unique paintings and art work that adorned this piano when we found it! (See "before restoration" photos) What a wonderful and fascinating life this piano must have had! This piano will be put back to a historically correct finish during restoration.
Adorned with arches, mortise and tenon joints, and other stunning Gothic/Mission details, this piano is one of the most unusual and amazing Craftsman style pianos we have ever seen. It has been restored to like-new condition, with a historically correct finish. Computerized player mechanisms are available at additional cost. A matching bench is included.
Note: As founder of The Antique Piano Shop, I have personally collected Mission / Arts & Crafts style pianos for over 25 years. I have a great passion for anything Mission / Arts & Crafts, including Craftsman homes, furniture, and accessories. If you are a true Arts & Crafts enthusiast, you will appreciate how impossible it is to find true Arts & Crafts / Mission style pianos in today’s market. Nearly three decades of collecting and preserving these “impossible to find” instruments has allowed me the opportunity to present the largest collection of true Mission / Arts & Crafts style instruments anywhere in the world.
We are proud to offer the serious enthusiast the option of adding an authentic period instrument for their Craftsman home.
