DESCRIPTION

This Louis XV carved style is one of the most popular classic designs in history. A lovely example of the elaborate Louis XV style, this beautiful piano was built in 1927 by Kranich & Bach during the “Golden Age” of piano building in America. This piano is made of Honduras Mahogany wood which was originally finished in a distressed antique brown finish. The cabinet boasts beautifully carved legs and scalloping along the entire case. Although the original color was done in a brown color, the cabinet can be refinished in either reddish or brownish mahogany.
This piano is being restored to like new condition, and the tone is magnificent. Even prior to restoration, it plays and sounds awesome. This is truly a very special piano from a special time in America’s piano building history.
TECHNICAL NOTE: It is true that Kranich & Bach had a unique patented action design during the early 20th Century which is obsolete today. Most conventional piano tuners do not know how to properly adjust these unique piano actions, and their parts are difficult to find. Sadly, some piano tuners will scare a would be buyer away from investing in a beautiful Kranich & Bach piano. These pianos are of amazing quality and tone and are terribly misunderstood by most conventional piano tuners.
When these unique actions are properly restored, they work beautifully and are a pleasure to play. A buyer for this piano will have the option of having the original action painstakingly rebuilt, OR having a newer model traditional action installed in the piano. With a new action, parts are readily available and anyone can service it.
The original matching carved bench is included.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
