DESCRIPTION

The Arts & Crafts movement was based on simplicity in design and construction, and most Craftsman style furniture was made of Mission oak. Because the Arts & Crafts movement was such an extreme change from traditional period styles, piano manufactures were very slow to adapt. Very few manufacturers went to the time and expense of adding Craftsman style pianos to their line. By the time these few makers added Craftsman design pianos to their product line, the Arts & Crafts movement seemed to fade away almost as quickly as it came. As a result, Craftsman style pianos are exceedingly rare today.

The Krell Piano Company was known for building high-quality player pianos; these instruments were durable and were meant to stand the test of time. Built in 1915, this piano is handsomely built in the rare Mission/Arts & Crafts style and is made of classic Craftsman style quarter sawn oak wood. Note the beautifully proportioned posts which are accented by Craftsman style Mortise & Tenon design. This instrument achieves a beautiful balance between beauty and simplicity with its particular Mission/Arts & Crafts design.

This player piano is being restored to like-new condition, inside and out. It can be electrified so that it can both be pumped or can be played by simply turning on a switch. And of course, the instrument can be played manually by hand like any ordinary piano.

A period Mission/Arts & Crafts style piano bench is included.
