DESCRIPTION

A. H. Gale was one of the finer American piano builders of the middle 19th Century. Gale specialized in square grand pianos, putting a great deal of quality in their design and construction.

This lovely piano was built by A. H. Gale in 1851, a little over a decade before the Civil War. It is made of stunning Brazilian Rosewood and is of the classic Empire Revival Style with large, heavy legs and ornately carved pedals and music rack. Note the beautiful Mother-of-Pearl inlay across the name board - these pianos with Mother-of-Pearl inlay were some of the most expensive pianos money could buy in 1851. This piano has been restored to like new condition inside and out, and has a lovely harp-like tone quality that makes these square pianos so desirable for early music lovers. An original matching stool is included. Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired.
