description

This is one of the most beautifully carved Rococo upright pianos we have in our collection.  This lovely piano was built in 1873 by the Pease Piano Company of NY.  Upright pianos were not built in large numbers until after 1880, and upright pianos built during the 1870s are exceedingly rare today.

This piano is made in a rare light golden color Brazilian Rosewood with heavily carved curved Cabriole legs, moldings and trim.  Brazilian Rosewood is now an endangered species, and it is nearly impossible to get in the United States today.

The cabinet is unusual in that it has a grand piano style music rack and key cover rather than the typical upright style music rack and key cover.  Note the lovely two-tone effect of the carved panels on either side of the case.  The intricately carved scroll work on the top and bottom panels originally had a soft burgundy silk fabric behind them, but any color or style of fabric can be added to suit one’s décor.

This piano is being restored to like new condition, inside and out.  It is an “upright grand” piano, and will have a large full sound when the restoration is complete.

If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.

A matching stool is included.
