description

This rare piano is a lovely example of the pre-Cival War American square grand piano. It was built by the Adam Stodart of New York in 1849, a time when the square grand piano was the most popular piano being built in America. It is made of Brazilian Rosewood, and is in a classic Empire Revival style cabinet.  This piano is currently being restored to like new condition, inside and out.  It will have a lovely soft "forte-piano" tone quality, almost "harp like" in sound.  This lighter, more delicate tone quality was favored by our ancestors for a century throughout the 19th Century period and is a delight to experience today!
