Exceedingly Rare Arts & Crafts Model Price & Teeple Upright Piano in Quarter Sawn Oak Wood with Copper Hardware
This beautiful piano is an excellent example of the true Craftsman style in quarter sawn oak with copper hinges, pedals and hardware. Because the Arts & Crafts movement was such an extreme change from traditional period styles, piano manufactures were very slow to adapt. Very few manufacturers went to the time and expense of adding Craftsman style pianos to their line. By the time these few makers added Craftsman design pianos to their product line, the Arts & Crafts movement seemed to fade away almost as quickly as it came. As a result, Craftsman style pianos are exceedingly rare today.
This piano was built by The Price & Teeple Piano Company in 1910 and is one of the most detailed Mission style upright pianos we have in our collection. Even now, prior to restoration, the instrument has a large, full sound; the tone quality will be of superior quality once the instrument is internally restored.
The piano has an overall strong and handsome appearance which is reflected in its sturdy mortise & tenon cross beam design. The cabinet is made of lovely quarter sawn oak which can be finished to any shade of golden oak, red oak, or dark oak per customers request.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
An authentic matching piano bench is included.
