description

A. H. Gale was one of the finer American piano builders of the middle 19th Century. Gale specialized in square grand pianos, putting a great deal of quality in their design and construction.

This lovely piano was built by A. H. Gale in 1848, and it came out of the famed Astor Courts Estate in NY. The piano is made of stunning Brazilian Rosewood and is of the Rococo Victorian Style. Note the unusually curved sides of the cabinet and lovely satinwood interior. Also note the beautiful Mother-of-Pearl keys - these pianos with Mother-of-Pearl were some of the most expensive pianos money could buy in 1848. This piano is being restored to like new condition inside and out, and has a lovely harp-like tone quality that makes these square pianos so desirable for early music lovers. An original matching stool is included. Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired.
