Instrument Description

The piano is composed of highly figured mahogany throughout; the legs are reeded & carved & boldly outline the original pedal leg, etc. Elements of the case pieces are cross-banded with rosewood veneer; stenciling is exquisite. The entire surface is old & the piece is in fine ,almost unused condition.The label reads' Thomas Gibson of Barclay's , New York'--- the case has been attributed to Duncan Phyfe.The mechanicals have undergone complete restoration. This is a smaller instrument, not as large as later square pianos. It measures only 27.5 inches wide x 67.5 inches long, and 36 inches high.
