This is a beautiful pre-civil war square grand piano built by Lighte, Newton & Bradbury. Lighte, Newton & Bradbury was established in about 1848, and they built extremely high quality, expensive pianos until 1861 under that name as well as Lighte & Newton and F.C. Lighte. After this, the name was changed to the Bradbury Piano Company. Bradbury built pianos until 1949.

This piano is made of beautifully carved Rosewood, and is in the Empire Revival style. Note the lovely mother of pearl inlay across the front panel. The square pianos with this level of ornamentation were among the most expensive, highest grand pianos available at that time – often selling for as much as a small house! This piano is truly stunning, and is an important part of America's musical history. This piano is being restored to like-new condition.
