Instrument Description

This rare piano is a perfect example of a very early American square grand piano. It was built by the Stodart & Dunham Piano Company of New York in about 1839, a time when the square grand piano was the most popular piano being built in America. It is made of Brazilian Rosewood, and is in a classic Empire Revival style cabinet. It has only 73 keys, and is in excellent original condition. This piano has not been restored, and presently plays quite well in its original condition! After total restoration, it will be truly amazing. An original matching stool is included.
