Instrument Description
This beautiful piano was built by the famous W.W. Kimball Piano Company of Chicago in about 1905. According to the original sales catlaog (see photos), this piano was sold as the "Style 8". Note the beautifully carved leaves and acorns that adorn the front panel! Oak Victorian pianos are less common than mahogany or rosewood because the darker finishes were more popular at the time. Since oak was a common domestic wood, it was not considered to be exotic and was rarely used for piano cabinets, making it rare and desirable today. This Kimball piano has been refinished and restored, and is a beautifully striking piece of furniture as well as a very satisfying musical instrument. An original matching stool is included. This piano can be fitted with a computerized player mechanism if desired.
