Western Pianoforte Company
The Western Pianoforte Company of Buffalo, NY, was a small, short-lived company that was started by a man who later became to be one of the most famous piano builders in history. Theodore Heintzman, one of Canada's most illustrious piano builders, started his amazing career with a humble piano shop under the name of Western Pianoforte Company in 1857. In 1858, Heintzman closed the firm and moved from Buffalo to Toronto to establish The Heintzman Piano Company, one of Canada's largest and most successful piano manufactures. (The Heintzman name is still being made, but those pianos are built in China today).
We have only known of a couple pianos under the "Western Pianoforte Company" brand name to exist. Since Heintzman built instruments under this name only from 1857 - 1858, they were built in small numbers. They are exceedingly rare and of museum caliber today.
