Gorham, C. L. & Company
The firm of “C. L. Gorham & Company” was established in Worcester, Mass during the mid 19th Century (the exact date is unclear).  Their firm was originally located at 207 Main Street then later expanded to 454 Main Street, Worcester.  C. L. Gorham & Co. was primarily a large-scale retailer of pianos and musical merchandise, however there is evidence that the firm produced a limited number of square and upright pianos with were sold under the C. L. Gorham & Co. brand name throughout the late 19th Century.
Although history is a bit vague, it appears that sons Frank C. Gorham and Fred S. Gorham reorganized as “Gorham & Company” right around the turn of the century.  Gorham & Company is listed as being active in Boston up until the World War I era.
Surviving instruments by “C. L. Gorham” and “Gorham & Company” are consistently of very good quality and craftsmanship, indicating these instruments were better than average quality pianos.
