Berge, Louis & Company
Louis Berge & Company was a small, family owned firm in New York City during the 1865 – 1885 era. Berge was a retailer of musical instruments and also manufactured his own pianos & organs. Berge pianos were built with great pride and craftsmanship, and they were sold for several hundred dollars during the post Civil War era, the cost of a small house!  Louis Berge built grand, square and upright pianos, and also built a line of organs and melodeons. Instruments by Louis Berge & Company are exceedingly rare today.
