In all of our archives, we only have a couple of brief references to Badlam of Ogdensburg, NY. Edward Badlam was born Chester, VT in 1809 and was first listed as a piano manufacturer and dealer in Ogdensburg in about 1840. We are still researching the Badlam brand name, and will add new information to our online museum as it comes available.
In the Pre-Civil War era, it was not uncommon for a family to build a small number of instruments which were sold under the family name, but sadly the history of these smaller-scale makers is sometimes lost forever.
